“That which does not break us, makes us stronger”.

See, I am doing a new thing!

Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness

And streams in the wasteland.

Isaiah 43:19

This is my new favorite verse.  Over this last year I have gone through so many trials, tribulations and changes in my personal life. This line from Steel Magnolias so depicts the footsteps this year “That which does not break us, makes us stronger”. A great line with so many implications.

As people, we tend to want to run from pain and heartache. Sometimes we don’t have a choice, we have to lean in to it. I have a friend battling cancer right now, she doesn’t have the choice to NOT DEAL WITH IT. Other places, we try to hide from it. The pain of it can be too much at times.

The blessing we have is first God and the Holy Spirit to give us hope and encouragement. Then prayerfully we are surrounded by our brothers and sisters in Christ to help us keep from breaking and throwing in the towel. Through these trials we can lean in to God and hold on to His Hand, grip it tight and see the stream in the desert. At the end of that process we are stronger
